Earlier this month, I was elected to succeed Gayle Goldin as the District 3 representative in the Rhode Island Senate. After being sworn in, I attended an orientation Monday to learn about the legislative grants program. From that discussion, I learned that your organization is receiving a legislative grant for the current July 1, 2021 — June 30, 2022 fiscal year.
The Senate Office informed me that the regular deadline to apply for grants for next fiscal year (July 1, 2022-June 30, 2023) has already passed, but that I can submit requests for District 3 until Friday, December 3. In a typical year, Senator Goldin awarded 10-12 grants in an average amount of $2,000-$3,000, and I expect to follow that pattern for this year’s grant cycle.
If your organization is interested in applying for a legislative grant in next year’s cycle, please send me an email describing your organization’s general mission, and how it would use a legislative grant should it receive one during next year’s grant cycle.
